Concordia College senior Amanda O’Connell has taken the college experience to a new level. While maintaining a perfect GPA, she also serves as a tutor, president of the Biology Club, treasurer of Campus Christian Ministries, and a member of the school choir. And that’s just a sampling of her extracurricular activities.

“It is really a great school,” said O’Connell. “There is a place for everyone to be involved.”

A native of Portland, Ore., O’Connell originally attended college there, but had come to Concordia College in Bronxville for a semester. She fell in love with the campus and community and decided to transfer. O’Connell was only 16 when she started college, but says she knew Concordia was the perfect fit.

“Now that I am here, this is my home,” she said. Her sorority, Theta Zeta Upsilon, hosts a variety of events which contribute to the local community. They recently held Spooktacular Saturday, a Halloween event on campus for local children. They also host a women’s appreciation tea for the female staff on campus, as well as donate to several local charities. In addition to everything else she does, O’Connell works in the Student Life office and is editor of the yearbook.

With her diversity of talents and interests, O'Connell is still debating her career path after graduation. As a Biology major, she is considering a career in medicine or teaching.
